Workshop for Non-Profits: from Charity to B-BBEE beneficiary

Workshop for Non-Profits:from Charity to B-BBEE beneficiary - Understanding the funding opportunities created by the revised B-BBEE codes

Trialogue, Transcend Corporate Advisors and Inyathelo: The South African Institute for Advancement are pleased to present a workshop offering practical guidance on the Revised Codes of Good Practice, which came into effect on 1 May 2015.

The session will begin with a welcome from Inyathelo’s recently-appointed executive director, Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge, followed by an overview of the influence of the BBBEE Codes on corporate giving, delivered by Nick Rockey, founder and managing director of Trialogue.

The workshop, facilitated by Olga Meshoe of Transcend Corporate Advisors, will equip delegates with a clear understanding of the revised Codes. It will also include an overview of transformation globally, followed by the macro-economic context of BBBEE in South Africa, exploring why social and economic empowerment is increasingly relevant. A case study detailing how an NPO has benefitted from the principles presented during the workshop will provide delegates with a practical example of how the provisions of the revised Codes can be applied to help NPOs shift from charity- to BBBEE- beneficiary.

Date: Wednesday, 24 February 2016
Venue: Inyathelo Offices, 160 Sir Lowry Road, Woodstock, Cape Town
Time: 8:30am to 3.30pm
Cost: R1 950 plus 14% VAT

Fee includes lunch, refreshments, and From Charity to BBBEE Beneficiary – a booklet authored by transformation and BBBEE expert, Dr Robin Woolly

Key topics will include:

Best practice in governance and reporting: Proper governance and reporting habits are crucial for effectively attracting corporate support and proving contributions to business sustainably and social stability.

Guidance on collecting the necessary documentary evidence for donors’ formal verification: It is crucial for an NPO to provide the necessary evidence for a donor to be able to claim its initiatives with the NPO during its BBBEE audit. A great value-add to the relationship with the donor is a NPO’s ability to proactively provide the required information.

Full-house: NPOs can present themselves as “one stop” organisations through which donors can contribute funding towards meeting the targets set in the Ownership, Enterprise Development, Socio Economic Development and/or Skills Development pillars of the revised Codes scorecard.
